Declare assets by July 15 – Mahama directs MMDCEs

President John Dramani Mahama has instructed all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to comply with constitutional requirements by declaring their assets by 15th July 2025.

Addressing them at an orientation and training programme for MMDCEs from across the country in Accra on Wednesday, June 18, he underscored the importance of transparency and accountability in public service.

“I wish to remind you that you are among the office holders required to declare your assets, and so I expect that by July 15, all of you will have declared your assets,” he said.

By Article 286 of the 1992 Constitution, each public officer appointed into office is required to declare their assets before and after holding such office.

Since assuming office in January 2025, Mr Mahama has noted that asset declaration plays a critical role in combating corruption and fostering confidence in public officials at all levels of governance.

He has since ensured that all of his appointees adhered to the constitution by declaring their assets.

He cautioned that defaulters will face the necessary sanctions, as had been done to some appointees.
